Abstract: Color image retrieval is becoming more and more important, and so is the quest for automated and reliable retrieval systems. In this paper we present and illustrate a new color image retrieval system, of which the novelty lies in the use of a fuzzy partition of the HSI color space and fuzzy similarity measures. The system has the advantage that the images don't have to be characterized in advance using several features, and it is quite flexible since the database images are not required to have the same dimensions.
